Saturday, Oct 21st at 5:30pm – Annual Bonfire and Pizza Party
Saturday, October 21st at 5:30pm we will host our Annual Pizza Party/Bonfire. This is open to all players, cheerleaders and their parents and siblings. Pizza and drinks are provided by the league, but we need volunteers to bring baked goods for dessert (cookies, cupcakes, etc…). This is always a great time.
There is no charge for this event, however as we prepare for our annual end of season Football and Cheer Banquet, each team is responsible to supply items to build their raffle baskets. We are asking all players and cheerleaders to bring 1 item for their team’s basket(s). This will be your admission to the bonfire event.
Thanks for your continued support in our program.
As we prepare for the upcoming 2017 football season, we wanted to bring everyone up to speed on some important changes that we made last season. We decided, after careful consideration, to transition out of Central Mass Pop Warner and join Central Mass American Youth Football & Cheer Conference.
There were several factors that we took into consideration when making this decision, but most importantly, what is best for our players/cheerleaders, their families and our program as a whole.
So what does this mean to us?
- The BWBB Lions become part of the largest youth football organization in the US.
- We join a league that’s more localized to our communities.
- We’re able to offer cheer and football to more kids – there’s no longer a too big or too small.
Historically we have needed to move kids either up or down divisions so that we could make rosters or manipulate sizes so that we could accommodate the most kids possible. Our philosophy will not change here, however the configurations of our teams will differ.
AYF works from a grade-based leveling system. This means that we can field a team(s) at either a single grade, or combine no more than 2 grades into a roster. Knowing what we do about our program and our kids, we anticipate 3-4 football teams this season. This all depends on registration numbers, but indicators are looking like:
- 8th/7th grades combined team
- 6th grade team
- 5th grade team
- (Mitey-Mite) 2nd/ 3rd grade introduction/instructional team
We’re also excited about the opportunities this presents for our cheer program. We anticipate being able to offer 2-3 cheer teams, but this is heavily dependent on registration numbers. We look forward to continuing to grow our cheer program into as many teams at as many levels as possible!
We’re already looking forward to the 2017 football and cheer season, and we’re obviously excited about this change and want you to be too! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to any of our Board of Directors.
